He listed his mother Lucy Bryan, Yorktown, Surrey, England as his next of kin. He was a labourer, unmarried and an active member of the 12th Regiment, York Rangers. He was 27 years of age and stood 5 feet 4 1/2 inches tall. He had blue eyes, dark hair and a fair complexion. He was a member of the Church of England.
